i have had MS over 30 years – started going downhill 7 years ago after i was treated for breast cancer.

while visiting a relative in wales i was told about the many benefits of HBOT and how it was standard procedure in much of europe.

i had 40 treatments and felt much better. more energetic and better able to walk. i didn’t realize at time that HBOT was like insulin – u needed constant treatments – though not as often.

a year later i did another 40 treatments and was about to go on weekly dives when i was told my insurance would no longer cover the costs.

that was 4 years ago. i wish there was a way to continue the treatments. i am curious about the “mild HBOT” soft
machines. u can rent them for a reasonable price.

    are they worth it ??

    sincerely,
    marguerite guarisco

    Dear sir,
I have had MS for 26 years. I consider myself fortunate bacause I can still walk, albeit with a rollator. A friend of mine had HBO treatment for a dreadful recluse spider bite, not for MS, since she doesn’t have MS. Her recovery was amazing, and I certainly would like to learn more about the procedure and how it can help MS. I had been on betaseron for 17 years and then my body started to develop necrosis at the inhjection sites. I have been on Tysabri for the past 6 months, but the nebrotic lesions have not disappeared. Anything you can do to teach us about this new therapy for MS would be greatly appreciated by the thousands of MS sufferers, many of whom have lost all hope of recivery.

It would be interesting to hear what Dr. Maxfield has to say on this subject. By reading some of the comments I’ve learned that this is somewhat like insulin to those in need? In truth and reality, I find this a confusing topic. I went for an MRI at the beginning of January…first one sounded like I was laying in the belly of a whale with the occasional screeches of a banshee. This time ’round it sounded like an alien invasion. How is it that there can be such an alarming difference in sounds? Anyhow, wishing you and yours the best! Michelle

I was diagnosed with MS 25 years ago and began treatment with Avonex 15 years ago. The Avonex may have slowed the advance of the disease — it’s hard to tell– but I have slowly moved from the Relapsing/Remitting phase of MS to the Secondary Progressive phase in the last few years. I continually wonder if the Avonex slowed that progression, and of course hope constantly that a cure will be found. I become fatigued easily and can no longer walk without support. I am dependent on others to help with routine things like grocery shopping, and no longer feel safe driving. I am grateful for the help, but hate feeling so needy and out of my own control. If there is any clinical evidence that HBO can be of assistance to the thousands of MS sufferers like me, I hope it will be shared with the worldwide MS community. It would be greatly appreciated.

Dr. Maxfield, please share what you know and what your experience has been with HBO. This community needs so much help. Dr. Rudy continues to be our lifeline toward recovery. Please let us know what you know so that we can be strengthened even more. Maybe it won’t “even be for everybody”, but at least we will know about it and can make an informed decision. If we don’t know about it, then it is another MS treatment gone by the wayside that could have possibly helped. Please share what you know so we have he chance to be strengthened even more.

“Hope” is a powerful word for those who suffer from MS. If HBO is a scientifically validated method for helping MS patients, it should be accessible to everyone. If the evidence is empirical, why not participate in a Webinar to demonstrate how it may help MS patients so they may have the benefit of trying HBO.

    Hi,
I am not a beggar but I need to know as much as you know to help MS. I have 3 young kids, a loving husband that does his best, a full-time I enjoy and this horrible disease. My dr would love if I not use myself so much as a “guinea pig” as she puts it but I’m desperate. I was diagnosed in Sept 06, about 36 (my age is just a number, right?), still think I’m a teenager thus why the young ones love me and the adults hate me (their problem). I love living life to the fullest but I keep thinking I pulled the short straw….Please help.

I suggest that Dr. William Davis’ book, Wheat Belly, presently on the New York Times bestseller list, should be required reading for all MS sufferers. It deals with the neurological and physical consequences of wheat and gluten in general., Given the high incidence of gluten intolerance in MS sufferers, this combination of case histories and scientific research is life changing and explains the cause of inflammations and auto immune issues in an understandable way.

This is great! I do something similar – I use a couple drops of Food Quality Hydrogen Peroxide in six ounces of water to oxygenate my body once a day. It is the same premise. Food quality is key NOT regular hydrogen peroxide. You can get a bottle of food quality H2O2 for about 7 dollars in any health food store and will last for several months. There is a book ‘The One Minute Miracle’ by Cavanaugh (sorry don’t have the book with me and am in a hurry)that tells you what to do and how to take it.

    Hey guys,
I have been in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber here in Frisco, Co
I am doing my own research into this(HBOT) and found out
that It helps us with MS.
    And a hyperbaric chamber helps
to accelerate the healing process for many with chronic pain.

Out of The International Hyperbarics Association. Inc.
They point out there results demonstrate HBO treatment
results in dampening of T and B cell-mediated responses
to oxLDL or inflammatory stimuli, hence, retards MS….

After 2 visits I will do 10….They tell me I should feel( in 3 visits) my
pain will go away in my Knees….Then my gate will improve.

I’m feeling great and know for many they do too!

    Sincerely yours, Brooke

Hi this is the first time i have messaged on here. I would love to join the webinars but am unsure how to any help would be much appreciated.

As far as HBOT goes i have been having weekly oxygen therapy at my local MS centre in Nailsea south west england for the last year. I have so much more energy after and this only starts to go a couple of days before my next session. I also sleep better and the tingling in my feet has all but gone and my balance is vastly improved. The way i understand it works is that because you are breathing in pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber ( different levels, lower pressure more oxygen absorbed into the cells) your cells open up more and allow the oxygen in which promotes healing and helps to reduce inflammation. We sometimes have sports players to heal injuries in ours and recently a lady with cancer.

Have had three treatments in a mono unit in Kansas City, KS, 10.5 PSI (pounds per square inch). It really helped. Diminished chest pain on left side of chest. Less fatigue, more energy and zest for life! Lasted for about three months. Since then I have repeated hyperbaric treatments at another facility. Oxygen was administered through mask while sitting in an enclosed tank but not as effective. Cost is $130 per treatment.

I experienced numbness in my right arm when I was about 16 years old. My GP said it was a pinched nerve. Throughout my childhood, I was always called clumsy and uncoordinated. I was diagnosed with MS since I had optic neuritis in the Summer of 1982 at age 21. All my episodes lasted about 30 days, now at age 51, symptoms are constant. I met a man in Charlottesville, VA who continued lecturing about home schooling across the U.S. after following a specific diet he developed based on how it made him feel. Now that I am 51 and have a little granddaughter and am called SPMS, I want to try techniques…Older and wiser.
